Excellent resource for helping children understand the truths and symbols of the Resurrection. We very much enjoyed the fact that this author encourages families to read from the actual Bible, rather than a paraphrase or story, and the addition of the hymns made it that much more meaningful (and fun!) for my children. Doctrinally sound for most mainstream denominations. I appreciate Ms. Reaoch's ability to present the deep truths of scripture in a way that children understand, but without talking down to them. Wish she had more than just Easter and Christmas!
We recently did this devotion with the kids, 6 yr old twins and a toddler. It definitely elicited questions about the life and sacrifice of Jesus. The memory verse were not overwhelming for my kids. And the music that accompanied it, was enjoyed by my toddler.
We have loved this book for all of our children (ages 4-13) and even some adults that have joined in with us during a visit. I have my own copy but have also gifted this to several families.
Very accurate biblically
It starts a child with familiar things, and uses them to help them understand concepts that are difficult & complicated.It really does answer the question of why Jesus had to die and what difference it makes to you and me.It gives verses each day to think about & to memorize - & explains the difficult words in each of them.It talks on a child's level without talking 'down' to them.The illustrations are great, and while it is geared to an adult-child interaction, it will become a book that the child will enjoy on his/her own as well.
The other reviews suggest this is a good book for younger children. I take exception to that and in my estimation, this book is a perfect tool for children of all ages, especially homeschoolers. Tomorrow I plan to give the book to a family with nine children still home. Whether Mom or the older children teach the younger children, I know every individual involved will be blessed. Plus, the hymn selected for the week in "Why Easter?" will solidify the teaching of the day; this musical family will love its "Amen" to the day's subject.
Really nice book to teach my kids the real meaning of Easter. Love that hymns are included.
This book was a great book for us to do for family devo's time. We printed off coloring pictures to go with each story.
